Plant-based recipes - Easy and tasty
Preparing vegan recipes that are elaborate, nutritionally balanced, and tasty takes a lot of time and fresh ingredients, and that’s not always possible.
HSN’s Fit-style ready meals were created as a solution to this, as they are naturally prepared with quality plant ingredients, selected for their flavor and combined to provide a good nutritional balance; you can enjoy and savor them in just 2.5 minutes in the microwave, no mess, no cooking skills needed, easy, right?
No need to make a quick unhealthy meal or spend hours in the kitchen; now you have delicious, natural, and nutritionally balanced ready meals thanks to HSN.
You can store them in the pantry for months: HSN’s ready meals, unlike most ready meals you can buy in specialty stores, don’t need refrigeration.
This is a clear advantage, and here’s why:
If you like having ready meals available to eat when you don’t have time or don’t feel like cooking, just storing 5 or 6 trays takes up a whole shelf in your fridge, and your fridge probably has between 4 and 5 shelves. If you’re someone who doesn’t eat ready meals daily and only uses them when you need a quick meal to keep up with your daily routine, those 5 trays you bought could sit in your fridge for weeks, taking up space, which is really impractical, to be honest.
At HSN, we’ve worked with professional chefs who cook using a patented preservation optimization process that combines thermal sterilization and packaging in a protective atmosphere. We explain both processes later in this sheet, but basically, they allow your trays to be stored for months at room temperature without losing flavor or spoiling. You just need to keep them in closed spaces away from light; you can store them in chests, cupboards, shelves, pantries... Much more practical, right? And your fridge space, which is more limited, is totally for you and your fresh foods that need to be eaten in the next few days, not for ready trays that can be stored for months.
100% quality plant ingredients: HSN’s special vegan diet recipes are made solely and exclusively with plant ingredients, containing no animal-derived ingredients, so they are 100% suitable for vegan diets.
We use top-quality foods to prepare our ready meals, for example:
We always use a carbohydrate base made from whole wheat; you’ll find couscous, bulgur, and pasta in the dishes. Also, all of them include natural protein ingredients like chickpeas, beans, various sprouts, and seeds.
Enjoy HSN’s delicious vegan recipes, prepared slowly, with care, and dedicating the necessary time just like you would at home. Quality and nutritional balance!
Most of HSN’s ready meals come in trays with considerable amounts, often around 400 grams, like the Fit and Gourmet dishes.
However, for vegan dishes, we decided to reduce these amounts because, due to the fiber content of their ingredients, they are more filling, and increasing the food quantity to amounts equivalent to the others would spike carbohydrate intake (typical of plant foods).
At HSN, we are closely committed to responsible consumption and won’t prepare trays that leave food leftover. That’s why we carefully analyzed the amount of food in each dish to offer appropriate portions and avoid food waste.
Veggie dishes are ideal for vegans with a good appetite as a first course; also for vegans in volume training aiming to gain muscle mass; and they can be paired with a second mainly protein-based dish, such as fermented soy, for example.
However, for people in cutting training or those simply following a vegan and healthy lifestyle, veggie dishes can make a complete meal, as they are moderately caloric; excellent for dinner or lunch.
International recipes - Discover the Veggie dishes
The vegan dishes are inspired by different international flavors; you can try them all and decide which flavor lover you are:
- Oriental: Pearl couscous and chickpeas - Prepared with soy sauce and peanut cream, ideal for those who love the sweet-salty contrast in their recipes.
- Continental: Kashotto with vegetable sprouts and pumpkin seeds - A universal flavor that reminds you of traditional cuisine everyone enjoys.
- Italian: Pasta orzo with olive oil - A dish from our Mediterranean cuisine, the authentic taste of pasta with virgin olive oil.
- Mexican: Pearl couscous and red beans - With the taste of Central American cuisine, enjoy the intense spicy flavor of the couscous and beans combination.
The veggie-style ready meals aren’t especially spicy, although the Mexican recipe has a characteristic pungent taste, it’s very tolerable even for people who aren’t big fans of spicy flavors. The Fit dishes have the spiciest and most intense average flavor profile.
Enjoy vegan dishes for every taste, whatever your culinary interest, we’re sure we have the perfect option for you.
Why use rapeseed oil?
Because rapeseed oil is an excellent option, known as the 'olive oil of northern Europe.'
We use rapeseed oil because it’s a seed oil rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, which thanks to its natural antioxidants is much more heat-resistant than other unsaturated oils; its fatty acids don’t go rancid and its flavor is neutral, unlike other options like olive oil.
The fatty acids in rapeseed oil make it heart-healthy, and we don’t use sunflower oil instead because it’s less optimal as it tends to oxidize faster, rancidifying its fatty acids and worsening both the dish’s flavor and its nutritional properties.
Rapeseed oil has an unfair bad reputation because in the 80s, due to its similar characteristics to olive oil, it was sold on the black market as if it were olive oil, and in one of the batches made by counterfeiters, a pesticide contaminated the oil, poisoning people who bought it.
This has nothing to do with rapeseed or rapeseed oil made following regulated processes. It’s a nutritionally healthy oil.
Why does it have traces of non-vegan foods?
In HSN’s vegan ready meals, you might find traces of non-vegan foods, such as fish, so why is it a vegan dish?
The traces that the dishes may contain (not that they contain) are not ingredients used in their preparation, but ingredients present in the cooking area, so for allergic people, it’s something to consider, as simple environmental exposure can trigger allergic reactions, but it doesn’t affect the ethical choice of the foods.
Think of it this way:
If you live in a house with a partner, kids, parents, friends, or family who aren’t vegan, while you are, and you cook in the same space: your vegan dishes and the others’ non-vegan dishes, do your dishes stop being vegan? No, right? You maintain a vegan diet because you don’t use the non-vegan foods in your recipes.
Well, traces work the same way, which is why HSN’s veggie dishes are 100% vegan.
Dish preservation
You might wonder how a ready meal can keep for so long at room temperature, being natural and without preservatives, when your homemade dishes obviously can’t.
The answer lies in the preservation optimization process: thermal sterilization, which without adding any compounds, optimally improves food preservation thanks to a sudden and significant temperature increase above 100 °C followed by rapid cooling. At the moment this process is done, and in the same sterilized environment, the food is packaged in a protective atmosphere, with trays sealed thanks to the film that protects them.
This is why HSN’s ready meals are so practical, and if you remove or open the tray’s film, you release the protected preservation environment and the dishes must then be refrigerated and eaten as soon as possible. The dishes keep well in the original tray, so don’t open it.
