Ubiquinol Kaneka™ - The best Coenzyme Q10
Ubiquinol (Kaneka Ubiquinol™) 100mg from EssentialSeries is a dietary supplement in vegetable softgels based on ubiquinol, the 'reduced form of coenzyme Q10' with raw material: Kaneka Ubiquinol™.
Ubiquinol is an electron-rich (reduced) form of coenzyme Q (ubiquinone). Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) exists in three redox states: fully oxidized (ubiquinone), partially reduced (semiquinone or ubisemiquinone), and fully reduced (ubiquinol).

The redox functions of ubiquinol are based on its ability to exchange two electrons in a redox cycle between the ubiquinol (reduced) and ubiquinone (oxidized) forms, which is why Ubiquinol is considered the best active form of Coenzyme Q10.
Ubiquinol vs Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone)
As we highlighted earlier, Ubiquinol is the reduced form of coenzyme Q10, commonly known as the oxidized form of Ubiquinone.
Many people use Coenzyme Q10 but don’t realize that Ubiquinol is also coenzyme Q10, just in a reduced version that’s considered preferable.
The traditional Coenzyme Q10 has the drawback that once ingested, our body needs to convert it to use it: it transforms it into ubiquinol.
The ability to convert Ubiquinone (traditional Coenzyme Q10) into Ubiquinol decreases over time and with aging. All coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) that isn’t converted is inactive.
That’s why directly consuming Ubiquinol is the most desirable, as it’s the only naturally occurring liposoluble antioxidant form present in our body.
According to Kaneka data, Ubiquinol is absorbed 2 to 4 times better than ubiquinone.

Reduced form of Ubiquinol - The most effective CoQ10 presentation
Thanks to the electron composition of Ubiquinol compared to Ubiquinone, it’s considered the most effective and bioavailable form of Coenzyme Q10, as it’s the active presentation.
Young and healthy people can easily convert Ubiquinone into ubiquinol but from the 40s onward, this process becomes less efficient, according to scientific research like Niklowitz et al. (2016).
That’s why supplementation with Ubiquinol is recommended for adults, as a key strategy due to a biological issue linked to the loss of efficiency in a process naturally associated with youth.
HSN - Committed to top-quality development: Concentration and suitability
At HSN, we didn’t just choose Kaneka for its 'reputation', not at all.
We researched raw materials, like with all our products, and it turns out Kaneka is the first and only ubiquinol in the world available as a nutritional compound.
Our dietary supplements are developed only with the best raw materials, those that meet the quality criteria established to be an international reference.
You can find the patented raw materials we use in our products: here.
We used the most supported dose of Ubiquinol, concentrated in a single softgel, and using a plant-based unsaturated fat carrier to optimize absorption: 100mg.
The ideal dose for daily continuous use as maintenance.
Also, we developed our softgels without gelatins, with a plant-based coating agent to make our Kaneka ubiquinol a 100% vegan-friendly product.

Kaneka - Pioneer in Coenzyme Q10 development: Discover its story
Since 1977, Kaneka has commercially produced the only fully natural yeast-fermented CoQ10, making the product bioidentical to the CoQ10 naturally produced in the body.
Backed by over three decades of manufacturing, safety, and clinical studies, Kaneka Q10® is the industry standard. It’s the main CoQ10 brand used in clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health approved by the FDA and has been used in the vast majority of all other clinical trials over the last 30 years.

Backed by over 10 years of research, development, and testing, this new product, Kaneka Ubiquinol™, is the only Ubiquinol currently available as a dietary supplement. It’s manufactured exclusively by Kaneka. Kaneka doesn’t sell its products directly to consumers, so you have to get it through authorized manufacturers that meet the quality criteria set by the company, like HSN.
In 2007, Kaneka Corporation launched its product next-generation Coenzyme Q10, Kaneka Ubiquinol™. Due to Kaneka’s dedication to producing the highest quality nutritional ingredients possible, the company spent over a decade researching and testing this innovative nutritional ingredient before launching it. This ongoing commitment to quality, safety, and reliability is evident in every distinctive Kaneka product.
- Kaneka Ubiquinol™ is the first and only ubiquinol in the world available as a nutritional ingredient.
- Kaneka Ubiquinol™ is derived from Kaneka Q10, the only fully natural yeast-fermented bioidentical CoQ10 available today.
- Kaneka Ubiquinol™ is more absorbable than conventional CoQ10, especially in those over 40 or affected by certain age-related conditions.
- Kaneka Ubiquinol™ has been tested for over a decade by scientists and researchers.
Don’t just trust, look for the Kaneka quality seal, like the one you can find on HSN’s label:
Kaneka launched the Quality Seal to help consumers understand what their supplements contain.
Buying products with the Kaneka Quality Seal means the product is made with high-quality Ubiquinol, the active form of CoQ10.
The Kaneka Quality Seal is backed by over 30 years of history in the CoQ10 market. It also has the support of state-of-the-art production facilities near Houston, Texas, and in Takasago, Japan. In these modern facilities, nutritional ingredients are made following a strict quality assurance program based on the principles of 'Kaizen,' the Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement and implementation of current FDA good manufacturing practices.

Foods rich in Ubiquinol and Ubiquinone
Variable amounts of ubiquinol are found in different types of foods. However, their content is quite low, so the use of a ubiquinol dietary supplement is usually recommended, ideally:
Fatty fish provide a good amount of Coenzyme Q10, especially salmon, tuna, and sardines; beef, chicken, and pork also provide ubiquinol, especially if they were grass-fed; and more specifically, offal is rich in this compound, with heart standing out.
However, considering this, the contribution of a very rich product in this compound, like beef liver, is only 4 mg per 100 g of ubiquinol. This means that to get the 100 mg of ubiquinol provided by a convenient HSN softgel, you’d need more than 2.5 kg of beef liver, which besides being impractical, is unfeasible daily.
Use Ubiquinol supplements to guarantee an optimal intake comfortably.
Ubiquinol + Red Yeast Rice. A winning combo!
Red yeast rice contains compounds naturally produced called monacolins, among which monacolin K stands out.
Monacolin K is responsible for the physiological effects of red yeast rice; however, according to clinical studies, its properties act on the mevalonate pathway, which negatively affects the ability to produce coenzyme Q10.

Young people using dietary supplements of Red Yeast Rice with Coenzyme Q10, like the HSN - EssentialSeries product, have enough support.
However, older people using this compound may need additional intake, due to difficulties converting the oxidized form to the reduced one, preferring the use of ubiquinol over ubiquinone.
Combine it with a multivitamin
Ubiquinol meets all the conditions to be considered a vitamin, except one: it’s not nutritionally essential since our body can synthesize ubiquinol.
That’s why it’s considered a pseudo-vitamin.
Using Coenzyme Q10 along with multivitamins is recommended because it’s an excellent way to make them more complete. Our Evovits Plus+ is a great broad-spectrum option with coenzyme Q10 in its composition.
Support your multivitamin with 100mg of Ubiquinol!

When is the best time to use Ubiquinol?
Ubiquinol is a compound that can be used at any time of the day. It’s usually recommended especially in the morning, although as long as you don’t experience sleep issues (which you shouldn’t since Ubiquinol has no stimulating properties), you can use the product in the afternoon or at night without problems.
Other Coenzyme Q10 presentations:
At HSN you’ll find other coenzyme Q10 products, in Ubiquinone form, and with Bioperine®, a patented black pepper extract standardized in a high piperine content, ideal to boost CoQ10 absorption.
